The situation
Detailing sits in an awkward spot online. The work is genuinely skilled and the good operators charge accordingly, but the category is full of sites that look like they were built by someone in a hurry. That gap is a real problem, because detailing is a trust purchase — somebody is handing over a car they care about to a stranger they found on the internet.
The thinking
Before anything visual, three questions. What does a visitor need to believe before they'll book? What do they need to understand about the services to know which one they want? And what's actually stopping them from booking right now?
The answers pointed the same direction: show the standard of work, remove ambiguity from the service tiers, and make booking the shortest path on the page.
The design
The site runs dark and editorial. That’s a practical decision more than an aesthetic one — detailing photography is all reflection and highlight, and it reads far better against near-black than against white. Type is set large and confident, with generous space, so the page feels calm rather than busy. Service tiers are laid out in a deliberate order with what’s included in each, so a visitor can place themselves without having to ask.
The build
Hand-coded front-end, no page builder. Responsive across the sizes people actually browse at, tested on real phones rather than a desktop window narrowed down. Images optimized so the gallery loads quickly on mobile data, which is where most local service searches happen.
WHAT IT DEMONSTRATES
Visual hierarchy for a trust-led service business, a clear service-tier structure, and a booking path that doesn’t ask the visitor to work for it.

WHAT I’D CHANGE
Measured on the build, not on the client’s domain — platinum-detailing.uk still serves their previous WordPress site, so this is not yet what their customers reach. Mobile performance is 52, and unlike the kefir build it is not asset weight: nothing loads over 401KB. I would profile it properly rather than guess, and get the domain pointed first, because a build nobody visits is worth nothing.
